New restaurant: Liberty Common!
207 1st Avenue South. 615-649-8900. This new restaurant located on the 1st Avenue side of the 222 building in SoBro is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Menu items include steak frites, croque madame, chicken & waffle, confit duck, fried chicken, country ham & pickles, oysters, buttermilk biscuits and much more. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 10:00 pm and Saturday - Sunday, 10:00 am - 10:00 pm.

Smashville Holiday Festival: Outdoor Ice Skating Rink

THROUGH MONDAY, JANUARY 21
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK AND ASCEND AMPHITHEATER $13.73 - $16.48

Enjoy outdoor ice skating for a few more weeks. The Smashville Holiday Festival is an ice rink on the Ascend Amphitheater stage and will be open through Sunday, January 21, 2019. The price is $16.48 for admission (including skate rental) or $13.73 for toddlers, military personnel, or if you bring your own skates. There is also 3-on-3 pond hockey every Monday and Wednesday night starting at 8 pm. Pond hockey is $15 per person and advance registration is required. Nashville Boat Show

THURSDAY, JANUARY 10 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 13, 2 PM - 5 PM
LOCATION: MUSIC CITY CENTER $12; AGES 12 YEARS AND UNDER: FREE

The 33rd annual Nashville Boat Show will take place a week earlier this year at the Music City Center from Thursday, January 10 through Sunday, January 13. Attendees will have the opportunity to browse more than 100,000 sq. ft. of pontoons, fishing and wake board boats, cruisers and more. Plus, over 15,000 sq. ft. of marine, camping and outdoor equipment, travel displays, outfitters and more. For more information, a schedule of events and to purchase tickets, visit their website.

 

Street Eats

THURSDAY, JANUARY 10, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday! The trucks serve lunch from 11 am to 2 pm. The food truck line-up is usually posted herePlease note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (from 4th Avenue to 5th Avenue) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

 

Barry's Bootcamp Class for Charity

SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 1:45 PM - 2:45 PM
LOCATION: BARRY'S BOOTCAMP $25

Head to Barry's Bootcamp Nashville on Saturday, January 12 for a class hosted by the Nashville Sounds, to celebrate Barry's 20th anniversary and raise money for the Nashville Sounds Foundation. The foundation utilizes baseball to positively impact communities throughout Middle Tennessee by emphasizing the importance of social responsibility, education, and the power of sport to transform lives.

 

Jazz with a View

SUNDAY, JANUARY 13, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: UP $15 IN ADVANCE; $20 AT THE DOOR

Jazz with a View Nashville 2019 kicks off on Sunday, January 13 at UP, the rooftop lounge atop the Fairfield Inn and Suites. First Fruit Jazz Project will perform inside the City View ballroom. Enjoy listening from the Cozy Bar Lounge, or experience the ambiance of the outdoor patio with warm fire pits and a panoramic view. DJ Victor Chatman will perform between sets. The full menu and bar will be available, and there is 3-hour free valet parking or $3 parking directly across from the hotel.

Lunch & Learn: A Reconsideration of North Nashville in History and Public Memory

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, NOON
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM STORE FREE

Learotha Williams, Jr., Ph.D., Associate Professor of African American and Public History, Tennessee State University, will highlight how the memory of this community resonates among both long-term and recent residents of North Nashville, with a focus on how the community often cultivated sensibilities and became the source of protest movements that challenged the status quo in the Music City. He will provide insight into who and what is celebrated in our collective memories; the individuals, events and significant spaces that have been erased from our collective consciousness; and who determines which of these are worthy of public study and recognition.

 

Schermerhorn Scavenger Hunt

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 5 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $25

Do you enjoy riddles, escape rooms, board games, treasure hunts, or just having fun with friends? Nashville Symphony musicians, staff, Crescendo Club members, Governing Members and others will come together for a unique evening exploring the hidden gems of Schermerhorn Symphony Center. You’ll learn fun facts, search for clues, solve puzzles and then enjoy a reception afterward. Refreshments provided.

Cheap Parking Options

Park for only $5 weeknights after 6 pm and all day Saturday or Sunday at the Metro Courthouse Garage. Or, pay only $10 after 5 pm on weeknights or all day Saturday or Sunday at the Library Garage.
