News & Information

Road Closures! Don't forget there are some road closures today, Wednesday, December 29, and tomorrow, Thursday, December 30, in conjunction with the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl activities. Give all the football fans a friendly Music City welcome, and make note of these routes! Closures on December 29th and 30th: 1st Avenue from Church to Demonbreun; 2nd Avenue from Commerce Street to Demonbreun; Broadway (all lanes) from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue on December 29th, and 1st to 4th Avenue on December 30th. Also, the Woodland Street Bridge will be restricted to pedestrians and shuttle buses only, beginning at 3 pm on December 30th.


Art Crawl Update: In celebration of the start of 2011, the First Saturday Art Crawl has been moved to the second Saturday, January 8th. Next week's edition of Downtown Details will bring you all the information...and details!


Events This Week

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 30, 5:30 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $17 - $80

Now in its 13th year, this Bowl matches teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). This year's game is between the University of North Carolina and the University of Tennessee, the teams' first meeting since 1961.


Applause for the Cause

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 30, 6 PM
LOCATION: HARD ROCK CAFE $5; OR COATS AND/OR CANNED GOODS

A concert benefiting Imagine/World Hunger Year, helping feed children in Haiti, Kenya, India, and Thailand. Hosted by Paris Delane and featuring some of the best songwriters, artists, and bands that Music City has to offer. The night kicks off with a "writers in the round" performance by Hard Rock Cafe employees. Performances follow by Carrie Zaruba, Gianina Bilan, Stephen Salyers, Paris Delane, Blackfoot Gypsies, Leilah Hayman, and Zach Spencer.


Schermerhorn Grand Reopening with Itzhak Perlman

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 9 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $75

The Schermerhorn Symphony Center will reopen to the public, after closing to repair devastating flood damages from the historic May 2010 flood. In celebration of the recovery, violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman is featured with the Nashville Symphony in a sold-out New Year's Eve concert.


Music City Bash on Broadway

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 7:30 PM

On Broadway between 1st and 4th avenues, Nashville's second annual New Year's Eve Party will feature a free block party, live music and fireworks. Artists include Phil Vassar, Damien Horne, Heidi Newfield and Will Hoge. Plus, an 80-foot Guitar Drop of the Hard Rock Café Nashville's ten-foot tall guitar, along with the fireworks at midnight!


McFadden's Blingin' New Year's

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 8 PM - 3 AM
LOCATION: MCFADDEN'S $30 SINGLE, $50 COUPLE, $50 SINGLE VIP

The New Year's Eve celebration at McFadden's features DJ Cliffy D, a champagne toast at midnight, a holiday buffet, and special drink packages available for purchase by clicking here.


New Year's Eve with Trent Willmon Band

Ring in the New Year

A Rockin' New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve Winter Wonderland Celebration

New Year's Dippin' Eve 2011

LOCATION: THE MELTING POT $80 EARLY BIRD; $100 DINNER

Start the new year with a four-course celebration! Tickets include a framed photo (one per couple) of your fondue celebration, champagne toast, and a gift bag. Also, receive a $25 dip certificate per person to put towards your next dinner in 2011. Early bird seatings from 3 pm - 4:45 pm. Dinner seatings from 5 pm and later. Reservation required.


Music City Ball

New Year's Eve Dinner

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 5 PM, 7 PM, 9:30 PM
LOCATION: CAPITOL GRILLE AT THE HERMITAGE HOTEL $95 - $135

The 5 pm and 7 pm seatings will feature a four-course pre-fixed dinner, and the 9:30 pm seating will feature a five-course pre-fixed menu, including a sparkling wine toast at midnight. A trio jazz band will be playing from 5 pm to 1 am. Reservations can be made at 615-345-7116.
