New Café: FiddleCakes!
300 10th Avenue South. 615-214-4992. New European-style café and bakery serving gourmet coffee, baked goods, soups, and sandwiches. The grand opening celebration is Tuesday, January 18th, at 10 am, and is open to the public. Mayor Karl Dean will attend for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. This is FiddleCakes' second location, featuring an extended menu and free WiFi. Hours are Mon - Fri, 7:30 am - 4 pm.

Jammin' at Hippie Jack's

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 7:30 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

The third of four musical showcases for the television taping of the PBS series, Jammin' at Hippie Jack's. Featuring Todd Snider, a renowned singer-songwriter in the Americana music tradition. During intermission, visitors will be able to tour the museum's galleries.

Impressionism and the Cafés of Paris

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $35 FOR MEMBERS; $50 FOR NON-MEMBERS

Learn more about the art and artists featured in The Birth of Impressionism exhibition, and the food they would have eaten in the Paris cafés while exchanging ideas, discussing innovations, recent trends, and even working on their paintings. Jim Womack, art history teacher and Jackson Family Chair of the fine arts department at Montgomery Bell Academy, and Margot McCormack, owner and chef of Margot Café and Bar in East Nashville, will lead the evening. There will be a private lecture, food tasting, and gallery admission. Call 615-744-3342 to register.


"All Together Now" Inaugural Benefit Concert

FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM $10

Sara Evans, Diamond Rio and Bo Bice will play a benefit concert to celebrate the inauguration of Governor-Elect Bill Haslam as Tennessee's 49th governor. The concert highlights Governor-Elect Haslam's "Tennesseans - Working Together, Moving Forward" week-long, statewide inaugural celebration. All proceeds benefit TN Achieves, a scholarship initiative serving Tennessee community college students. Click here for ticket purchasing information.


Bill Cosby

One of America's most prolific comedians of all time, Bill Cosby has entertained generations of fans with his comedy routines. Cosby's greatest contribution to American entertainment and culture was The Cosby Show, about a close-knit, upper class black family. His comedy transcends age, gender, and cultural barriers, always providing a great showcase of entertainment. NOTE: The 4 pm showing directly follows the Inaugural Parade; ticket-holders are advised to arrive early in anticipation of traffic and pedestrians.


Community Free Day in Celebration of the Inauguration

SATURDAY, JANUARY 15, 10 AM - MIDNIGHT
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

Admission to The Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay will be free on the day of the Inauguration of Bill Haslam as Governor of the State of Tennessee. In addition, the Frist Center Gift Shop will have an all-day sale with special discounts. From 6 pm - 8 pm, the Kristin Hubbard Jazz Trio will perform in the Grand Lobby. From 8:30 pm – 10:30 pm, classical Spanish guitarist Carlos Enrique will perform.


Inaugural Ceremony and Parade

SATURDAY, JANUARY 15, 11 AM - 2:30 PM
LOCATION: WAR MEMORIAL PLAZA FREE

The Inaugural Ceremony for Governor-Elect Bill Haslam will take place at War Memorial Plaza, directly followed by a parade. The parade will start on 4th Avenue, continue to Union Street, turn right on 6th Avenue, right on Charlotte Avenue, and end at 5th Avenue. RSVP is required, click here. Business attire.


The Annie Moses Band In Concert

The Annie Moses Band is a family of Juilliard-trained musicians and award-winning songwriters, dedicated to virtuosity in the arts.

An evening dedicated to recognizing the newcomer nominees for the 46th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. It is a one-night-only taping that is open to fans.
