New Restaurant: 400 Degrees Hot Chicken!
319 Peabody Street. 615-244-4467. Serving fried chicken in varying degrees of hot, from 0° for regular fried chicken, 100° for mild, 200° for medium, and 400° for hot. Daily sides are crinkle-cut fries, sweet baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad. Hours are Tues - Thurs 11 am - 3 pm, Fri 11 am - 1 am.

Free Admission Days

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

As a "thank you" to the community for being so supportive in 2010, free admission days include admission to William Eggleston: Anointing the Overlooked and Martin ArtQuest Gallery, the interactive art space for adults and children. The exhibition features 50 photographs by the Memphis, Tennessee resident, William Eggleston, who is one of the most influential artists of his generation.


Nashville Opera presents The Marriage of Figaro

FRIDAY, JANUARY 28 - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 8 PM ON FRIDAY, 2 PM ON SUNDAY, AND 7 PM ON TUESDAY
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $19 - $95

The infamous story of the Barber of Seville, whose former friend, the Count, tries to steal the barber's bride-to-be on the eve of Figaro's wedding. Sung in Italian with English translations, and directed by John Hoomes. Featuring the Nashville Symphony under the direction of Maestro William Boggs.


Charlie Chaplin Films "Piped" To Life

FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 6 PM, 8 PM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL $5 STUDENTS; $10 GENERAL

World-renowned organist Dorothy Papadakos brings three of Charlie Chaplin's silent films to life with organ improvisation. The Cure, The Immigrant, and The Adventurer are classic Chaplin comedies dealing with the prominent social issues of that time. Click here for tickets.


Nashville Fishing Extravaganza

LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM $5

First Annual Nashville Fishing Extravaganza will feature speakers such as the 2004 Bassmaster Angler of the Year Gerald Swindle, Crappie USA Tournament Trail veteran Jared Roper, Trophy Musky Guides Trash and Justin Mullins, Bassmaster Elite Seriespro Bill Lowen, 2000 Bassmaster Classic World Champion Woo Daves, Smallmouth Bass Guid Stephen Headrick, and FLW Tour pro Joe Thomas, host of Ultimate Match Fishing on the Outdoors Channel.


The Affair to Care

SATURDAY, JANUARY 29, 8 PM - 1 AM
LOCATION: AVENUE

This sold-out black tie event draws more than 400 young professionals for a red carpet evening, with all proceeds benefiting the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Live entertainment, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction benefiting pediatric oncology research.


Lunch to Benefit Community Food Advocates

SATURDAY, JANUARY 29, 1 PM, 3 PM
LOCATION: ARNOLD'S COUNTRY KITCHEN $50

A special Saturday lunch benefiting Community Food Advocates, which is dedicated to ending hunger and creating a healthy, just, and sustainable food system for Middle Tennessee. With your donation paid in advance, you can reserve a place in line at one of the two sittings.
