THE DOWNTOWN CLEAN & SAFE TEAM

Keeping downtown Nashville clean and safe for employees, residents and visitors is the primary focus of a team of Ambassadors managed by the Nashville Downtown Partnership. Every day, they pay attention to many details that help create an attractive and welcoming downtown environment.

Carrying out supplemental services funded by a special assessment on properties in the Central Business Improvement District (CBID), this team improves the appearance of the downtown streets and sidewalks and elevates the sense of security.

Their daily routine includes public space maintenance, hospitality services and safety measures. On foot, bicycle, and Segway, Ambassadors keep an eye out for situations requiring police or emergency services and quickly communicate with the appropriate dispatchers. Downtown Ambassadors are also trained to give visitors directions and information on downtown attractions.

Wearing bright yellow shirts with the Partnership logo, Downtown Ambassadors are assigned to zones within the CBID.  Hours of service are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday (clean team until 3pm) and 9 am to 9 pm Saturday and Sunday (safety patrol only).

Downtown Ambassadors make a positive difference by pressure washing sidewalks, removing graffiti and handbills, weed control, and litter and trash removal. A cooperative effort with Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall’s office adds community service workers to the downtown “clean team”—effectively doubling the staff and making it possible to “clean twice the area in half the time.”

You may also request one-time or recurring scheduled services by completing the online request form. Services available within the CBID downtown area include pre- and post-event services in the vicinity of entertainment or meeting facilities, guides in hospitality corridors, sidewalk pressure washing, and personal safety escorts.
